Cruising at 38,000ft in an Emirates A380 en-route to Manchester. 4.5 hours to go.
Our track has been along the Red Sea, turning north before Kuwait and tracking up the western side of Iran before heading due west across Turkey.
It feels really strange to be looking at the downward facing camera as the terrain rolls by beneath us.The progress map shows we are passing by Basra, Mosul, Baghdad, Tehran etc. What had up to now just been dangerous places on the news are now below us as we watch movies and eat (reasonably) good airline food.
I'll be glad to get over Western Europe.
We arrive in Manchester around midday local time. Then just have to stay awake to get into the local time zone. At least we have a couple of nights with Julie & Richard to recover.
