After a 7 hour flight from Dubai we have arrived in Manchester none the worse for wear. A bit tired after the three flights (24 hours flying plus a few hours in transit).
We managed to get through immigration after a bit of a queue and find the car hire place which all went to plan (i.e. they actually had our car ready). We have a Fiat 500X (in the photo) with all mod cons; keyless start/stop, aircon and an electric ‘hand’ brake. The latter takes a bit of getting used to - not sure how you would do a hill start!
Our friends (Julie and Richard Cassels) are only 10 minutes from the airport so we arrived at their place around 2pm Wednesday UK time (having left home at 10am Monday NZ time). Our only sleep during this time was a few hours on the 14 hour leg from Melbourne to Dubai.
After a quick shower to freshen up we headed into Manchester to have a look around, a quick drink in a nice pub and dinner at a Tapas place. On the way back Miriam fell asleep in the car and went straight to bed when we got back to their place. I stayed up chatting to Julie and Richard until about 11pm.
After a good night’s sleep, we got up just after 9am and … more in the next exciting instalment.
