Cirencester

Traveling on to our next Airbnb place took us to Cirencester before getting to Bagstone in South Gloucestershire.

We managed to find a parking space in their short-term parking but only after two trips around the carpark! Just too many people here.

Cirencester was an important Roman town and has the remains of an 8,000 seat amphitheatre built in the early 2nd century. It hasn't been excavated much but would be a perfect site for a concert. We had a schematic map but this was very misleading and we walked around a bit getting lost! Once again the smart-phone and Google Maps came to the rescue.

Can you find Miriam?
With only 3 hours on our pay-and-display ticket, we headed back to the centre of town. It was only about 1km away so no big drama. By 2pm our 'Full English' breakfast was wearing off so we popped into a pub in the centre of town and had a sandwich and chips washed down with a half of ice-cold Peroni. This was just what we needed; a sourdough ciabatta roll with ham/cheese (M) and pastrami/creamy dressing (R). Very fresh and very yummy.

Another hour's driving and we settled in to our 'barn conversion' for two nights. This place is quite luxurious (space-wise) with a full kitchen and laundry facilities. We drove into the nearby town of Yate and bought provisions for a steak and salad meal from a giant Tesco.
