Cortona

Saturday we slept in and woke to find that the morning was gone and it was raining. I was feeling a bit better so we decided to head south to Cortona to visit the museum which has many Etruscan exhibits. By the time we got there it was raining heavily and so visiting a museum was really good idea.

Cortona is amazing because it is built on a hilltop (like a lot of villages in this area) and the 'streets' are cobbled/paved and very steep and narrow. This doesn't stop them being public roads and so you have to watch out for cars coming up behind you. The museum was interesting but the English translations of the exhibits were very verbose and technical. Probably not written by a fluent English-speaker and with many made-up words. Not helpful if you don't understand the Italian version! There were also many video screens and projectors but none were working so who knows what they were contributing.

We finished the afternoon with a Gelato from the nearby Gelateria which we were told was the best ever. And it was good.

For dinner we went to the restaurant we had booked the previous evening but had cancelled due to my 'ill-health'. Jane and I kept things simple with a Pizza while Miriam and Rob had a rabbit stew.
