Thursday in Hale

A leisurely start to the day after a few wines last night...

Julie had to work in the morning so the three of us decided a walk would be beneficial. Richard assured us it was only about 4 miles! We walked through their very posh suburb with Porsches and Audis everywhere (with the odd Maserati thrown in). Suddenly we were in farmland with typical English rolling countryside and church steeples in the distance.

After finding our way back to suburbia we paused for a drink (water) at a local cafe and then met Julie for lunch in the village. On the way back to the carpark, Julie pointed out (sotto voce) that Michael Le Vell (aka Kevin Webster from Coro) was sitting at a table outside another cafe! No photo taken though. Apparently quite a few of the cast live around there.

We finally headed off on our travels from Hale (South East Manchester) to navigate around Manchester up past Leeds and finally to Wetherby near York. The trip took the predicted amount of time but was pretty hectic. It takes some getting used to three lanes of Motorway traffic all traveling at around 70mph (that's 115kph in our terms). This included the many huge lorries - no 90kph limit here for them. They aren't allowed in the fast lane though (and I wouldn't go there either). The car performed well though. It even has a little yellow light in the wing mirror which lights up when a car passes on the right of you. I was a bit disconcerted when I first saw it; what does it mean? are the aliens coming to get me? Only managed to miss one motorway cross-connection and ended up going the wrong direction on another motorway for about a mile or so. Thank god for my Sygic sat nav as it quickly calculated a new route and got us back where we were meant to be.

We arrived at our Airbnb accommodation and are here for three nights. Went to a small pub for dinner last night and had an early night.
